The US Diversity (Green Card) Lottery for 2021 will open on October 2, 2019.
Are you in the US on an E3 visa or another type of non-immigrant visa? Would you like to get a Green Card? One way for someone to get permanent residency in the US is to enter the US (Green Card) Diversity Lottery, and the great news is the US Diversity Lottery for 2021 will open on October 2, 2019.
You will have to be quick, as the US government’s portal for the DV-2021 Program will open on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), and concludes on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5).
Additionally, due to the current political climate in the US, we do not know if the program will return in future years. So if you have any desire to possibly make your stay in the US more permanent, we recommend entering the lottery as there’s no downside to doing so whatsoever. Entering will not negatively affect your ability to obtain or renew a visa.
The Diversity Visa Lottery has been a free, annual program where an online application is submitted for residency visas. It is available to people from many countries. A total of 50,000 Green Cards are available in this lottery. For Australians and New Zealanders, the chance of success is the highest in the world, between 3% – 8%.
Contrary to popular belief, you may apply for the diversity lottery even if you are currently in the US on a non-immigrant visa, such as an E2 or E3 visa and you are interested in other residency or visa options.
Apply for a Green Card soon!
While the chances may seem slim, we have had quite a few clients who have been successful in past years. The deadline for submissions this year is Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5).
Online registration for the 2021 US Diversity Lottery is now open and can be found at the US Department of State’s webpage here.
Remember that there is no cost for the initial application. So if you find yourself on a website that requires payment, it will not be an official government application. We recommend using the link in the paragraph above.
